Your impact in 2024

Wow, what a year! 2024 has been another year of action for My Sea to Sky, with several wins to celebrate.
This work is only possible because of the dedicated support of our amazing volunteers, partners, and each and every one of you. We are truly grateful for the people that make our critical work to defend, protect, and restore Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound possible.
Our impact in 2024:
-
We partnered with researchers from the University of Victoria to evaluate the human health impacts of Woodfibre LNG's flarestack.
-
We intervened in two BC Utilities Commission hearings and stopped FortisBC's plans to greenwash "renewable" gas and invest in LNG exports.
-
We denied the local permit for Woodfibre LNG's floating workcamp, and while Woodfibre LNG is ignoring local jurisdiction, we are heading to court in early 2025 to challenge the Federal approval of the "floatel."
-
We stopped FortisBC's workcamp! Working closely with Justice for Girls, we increased public awareness about the human rights impacts of resource extraction projects like Woodfibre LNG and FortisBC, and mobilized the community to pressure the District of Squamish to deny the permit FortisBC needed.
-
We set up a monitoring team to hold Woodfibre LNG and FortisBC accountable by compiling evidence to file complaints and shut the projects down.
-
We made Woodfibre LNG an election issue... again! and West Vancouver Sea to Sky elected the first BC Green MLA on the mainland in an historic win.

TRIPLE YOUR MONTHLY DONATION*******
Triple your donation to our legal actions
It's not too late to #CancelthePermits for Woodfibre LNG and FortisBC. We are never giving up the fight!
That's why My Sea to Sky has partnered with the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association to overturn project approvals for Woodfibre LNG and FortisBC, and hold the Federal and Provincial governments to account.
More than 470 generous donors have raised over $160,400 to support our legal actions in the past year. We need to hit $200,000 by the end of 2024 as we prepare to go to court in early 2025. Can you chip in to help pay for legal fees, expert peer review, access to information, and dedicated staff time to support our legal actions?
In the last week, 41 of you chipped in to raise $3,300. Thank you! The next $6,700 we raise will be tripled by two wonderful local families.
TRIPLE YOUR DONATION FOR OUR LEGAL ACTIONS*******
As the year comes to a close, I am overwhelmed with immense gratitude for the My Sea to Sky community. Thank you for standing with us in 2024. Wait until you see what we have planned for 2025!
With love for Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound,
