Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound Art Challenge

Calling all students! To celebrate World Oceans Day, students from K–12 are invited to submit artwork with the theme, Revitalization: collective action for the ocean.

The ocean connects, sustains, and supports us all. Yet its health is at a tipping point and so is the well-being of all that depends on it. We need to work together to create a new balance with the ocean that restores its vibrancy and brings it new life.

We encourage students to be creative and to share what revitalization means to them within Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound’s precious watershed.

The winning artwork from each grade will receive a cash prize of $50, and will be featured in a special edition 2023 school-year calendar. Students will also receive a free copy of the published calendar (value $30).

Deadline for submissions: 9:00 pm Pacific Time, Sunday 15th May 2022.

Launch the slideshow to see the incredible art submissions from 2021. We have been so inspired by the students’ talent and love for Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound. We're already looking forward to seeing the submissions this year!

Introducing the My Sea to Sky Youth Council

The My Sea to Sky Youth Council is an inclusive group of young people (16–30) who love Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound. Our goal is to confront the way people with privilege have historically organized around environmental issues and follow a framework that puts social inequalities at the forefront. This group exists to provide space for youth who are passionate about climate action to be heard, supported, and challenged. The youth council meets once a month, on the first Thursday of the month from 12:00-1:00pm PST via zoom.

Fill out this application to join. We cannot wait to meet you!
