Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound Art Challenge
Calling all students!
To celebrate World Oceans Day, students from K–12 are invited to submit artwork with the theme:
Revitalization: collective action for the ocean.
The ocean connects, sustains, and supports us all. Yet its health is at a tipping point and so is the well-being of all that depends on it. We need to work together to create a new balance with the ocean that restores its vibrancy and brings it new life.
We encourage students to be creative and to share what revitalization means to them within Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound’s precious watershed.
The winning artwork from each grade will receive a cash prize of $50, and will be featured in a special edition 2023 school-year calendar. Students will also receive a free copy of the published calendar (value $30).
Winners will be announced at World Oceans Day in Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound, on Wednesday 8th June 2022.
Launch the slideshow to see the inspiring art submissions from 2021.
The winning artwork from each grade will be judged using the following criteria:
- Does it fit the theme, Revitalization: collective action for the ocean?
- Is it relevant to Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound wildlife or landscapes within the watershed?
- Artistic talent, creativity, and originality.
