Petition text

Howe Sound is world renowned for its wild natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and the vibrant communities we call home. We value intact ecosystems that sustain and support our communities, our livelihoods, and our diverse local economies.

Woodfibre LNG will increase fracking, lock in climate pollution for 25-40 years, harm marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and poses an unacceptable health and safety risk for the communities of Howe Sound. This project does not fit our values.

We call on local, provincial, federal, and Indigenous governments to reject the Woodfibre LNG project and its associated pipelines and tankers.

🔥 What is happening?

Woodfibre LNG is a fracked gas export facility proposed near Squamish BC in the Átl'ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region.

🔥 Why is that a problem?

Woodfibre LNG will increase fracking in northeast BC, pollute local air and water, put the health and safety of residents at risk, and threaten the recovery of Átl'ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound’s precious ecosystems. LNG exports are not economically viable without massive taxpayer subsidies, and there are few long-term benefits for Canadians.

🔥 What can we do?

People power has successfully delayed construction since 2015. Woodfibre LNG still needs several permits and approvals to proceed. Join thousands of people that are calling on Premier David Eby to cancel the permits.

🔥 Deadline to sign

We will deliver this petition directly to the BC Government in September 2024 and call on them to cancel the permits for Woodfibre LNG's fracked gas export project.
