What is a Witness Ceremony?
In Coast Salish culture, witnesses are called for events of historical significance. These witnesses are keepers of history, and share the story of what they witness with their families and communities when they return home. This was our form of a living newspaper.
We will be calling honoured and respected knowledge keepers as witnesses at the rally. Traditionally, there are no timelines in ceremony, but we will do our best to stick to the itinerary above.
Please RSVP if you can be there.
Chen kwen mantumi,
Tiaoutenaat Jackie Williams
Squamish Nation Elder
