Why heat pumps are cool

I've been raving about my heat pump. Not something I thought I'd ever say, but get geeky with me.
WHY HEAT PUMPS ARE COOL
Did you know that heat pumps can also cool your home? And that when combined with a good HRV system they can filter wildfire smoke? I know that I didn't, until we started researching.
Earlier this year my partner and I ditched our fracked gas furnace and replaced it with a heat pump, and I am in love.
I was so happy to wave goodbye to FortisBC, because more than 85% of BC's natural gas is now fracked. Plus a recent report revealed that leaking methane from fracking is double what government thought. This is a massive climate threat, as methane is 86 times more potent than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas.
Getting rid of fracked gas also made our home healthier, as gas appliances are a hidden public health risk. In fact, experts have linked cooking with gas to childhood asthma, as gas appliances (both furnaces and stoves) can produce levels of air pollution inside our homes that would be illegal outdoors.

HELP US KICKSTART THE #ZEROCARBONCHALLENGE
Last month I shared a little about the #ZeroCarbonChallenge, our ten-year plan to catalyze climate action.
Switching to heat pumps is one of the most effective actions that we as individuals can take to reduce emissions in our homes. We need both individual and collective actions as we shift away from fossil fuels as quickly as possible.
An amazing angel donor has stepped up to help us kickstart the #ZeroCarbonChallenge and offered to match your monthly donations.
The first $500 in monthly donations will be doubled for an entire year!
If you donate $25 a month, that will be doubled to $50 a month.
We want to share more tips like this with you as we radically transform our communities. Can you help us kickstart the #ZeroCarbonChallenge and double your monthly donation for an entire year?
With a big thank you to all our amazing monthly supporters! You make our work possible.
