We're going to court!

We're going to court!
For eleven years we've said that the environmental assessment process is broken. Now we're going to court on May 28, 29, and 30 to prove it!
Woodfibre LNG was the second project to be assessed using a substituted environmental assessment process, where the Federal Government delegated the review to the Province of British Columbia. It didn't work.
The newly elected Federal government is talking about creating a "one-stop-shop" to fast-track project approvals. But destructive resource extraction projects like Woodfibre LNG need more oversight, not less.
We need to fix the broken process.
When the Federal government approved Woodfibre LNG's floating workcamp in November 2023, both My Sea to Sky and Justice for Girls immediately filed for a judicial review.
We are asking the court to find that the Federal government followed an unfair process, and failed to discharge their duty to protect human rights and the environment.

A second "floatel"?
Woodfibre LNG is already operating despite being denied the local permit from the District of Squamish for the first floating workcamp.
Now Woodfibre LNG wants to dock a second floating workcamp (aka "floatel") for up to 900 more workers! This makes our legal challenges even more timely.

RSVP to attend court on May 28, 29, or 30
It's important to show that people care about this issue. Can you join us next week in Federal Court in Vancouver on one or all three days? If so, please RSVP for each day you can attend so we know if we need to ask for a larger court room as space is limited.
Tentative Schedule
May 28, 2025 | My Sea to Sky's legal team will make our case, followed by Justice for Girls' legal team who will make their case.
May 29, 2025 | Justice for Girls' legal team will continue to make their case. Woodfibre LNG and the Federal Government will respond.
May 30, 2025 | Woodfibre LNG and the Federal Government will continue to respond, after which My Sea to Sky and Justice for Girls will reply (rebuttal).

Donate now to support our legal actions
My Sea to Sky has partnered with the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association to overturn project approvals for Woodfibre LNG and FortisBC, and hold the Federal and Provincial governments to account.
Hundreds of donors have raised $163,908 to support our legal actions in the past year. Our goal is to reach $200,000 as we prepare to go to court at the end of May.
Can you chip in to help pay for legal fees, expert peer review, access to information, and dedicated staff time to support our legal actions?
Every donation will be triple-matched by two wonderful local families.
