LNG Canada's invisible air pollution

In early May, I spent a week in Kitimat with Tim Doty, a former Texas regulator who now contracts with Oilfield Witness, to capture footage of LNG Canada's invisible air pollution using an optical gas imaging (OGI) camera.
It was truly shocking to see the huge, invisible plumes of toxic chemicals that LNG Canada is releasing into Kitimat's airshed. These pollutants are harmful to the climate and human health, and people in nearby communities are breathing them in. WATCH THE VIDEOS
We documented a plume of pollution from the 120 foot high flare drifting towards the community of Kitimat. We also saw massive amounts of pollution pouring from six hot stacks at the liquefaction facility itself.
As we're researching, we're learning that a lot of this harmful air pollution is unmonitored and unregulated. For example, benzene—which is a potent carcinogen—is not routinely monitored at LNG Canada.
Our governments have not properly assessed the human health risk for people who are living near LNG plants in Kitimat, Squamish, or Vancouver.

TAKE ACTION! Demand clean air!
The Health Officers Council of B.C. are calling for an independent cumulative assessment of the health impacts from fracking and LNG export projects. Several frontline communities including Squamish, New Westminster, Dawson Creek, Hazelton, Terrace, and the Squamish Lillooet Regional District have joined the call.
Please take a minute to send a letter to federal and provincial ministers. We need to halt LNG expansion until health impacts are studied.
SEND A LETTERLNG is not "clean" it is a dirty fossil fuel. Our governments need to act and use the levers they have to hold the LNG industry accountable for this harmful air pollution and protect public health.
Please take action to demand clean air for our communities.
