Sign the petition to ban fracking in BC
February 8, 2019
Over 70% of BC's natural gas now comes from fracking. If Woodfibre LNG goes ahead it will require at least 24 new fracking wells to be drilled every year in northeast BC.
Fracking is a disaster for the land, water, climate, and local communities. It fragments caribou habitat with thousands of wells, roads, and seismic lines. It uses so much water that fracking companies are building illegal dams to divert streams for their operations, impacting wild salmon. Leaking methane from poorly regulated fracking wells is 2.5 times higher than what industry is reporting, accelerating climate change. Fracking operations have been directly linked to increasing earthquakes, contaminated groundwater, and several human health impacts.
Will you join nearly 12,000 people that have signed a petition to ban fracking in BC?
My Sea to Sky is partnering with the Wilderness Committee to deliver this petition to the BC Legislature in March, so please take a minute to add your name now, and ask your friends and family to sign too.
If Woodfibre LNG cannot access their fracked gas, they will have to pull the plug on the project.
Join us to demand an end to the destructive practice of fracking. With extreme weather already taking its toll on BC communities, it won’t be a moment too soon.
