We did it! Historic win for BC Greens

My Sea to Sky has made Woodfibre LNG an election issue at the local, provincial, and federal level for nearly eleven years now.

After nearly electing a BC Green to the West Vancouver Sea to Sky riding in 2020, this election we have finally made history as Jeremy Valeriote becomes the first BC Green elected to the mainland.

This sends a clear message about the increasing opposition to Woodfibre LNG as the BC Greens are the only party opposed to fracking and LNG export projects.

Thank you to everyone that voted, and helped to get out the vote.

Every vote counts... literally

The election is far from over, as we anxiously wait to find out which party will form government. There are still eleven ridings that are too close to call, with some ridings split by as little as 20 votes.

Elections BC will count the ~49,000 absentee and mail-in ballots starting October 26. We won't know until early next week whether the BC NDP or the BC Conservatives will form government, but the BC Greens could hold the balance of power.

This is good news for everyone who cares about climate action, upholding Indigenous rights, and ending fossil fuel export projects like Woodfibre LNG.

Our friends at Dogwood are hosting a webinar today, at 5.30pm, Wednesday October 23, to speak with land defenders about BC's election results, and how we can support frontline communities fighting these projects.

A sinkhole near the Squamish estuary? Is the tunnel collapsing? FortisBC's workers stopped work when we started asking questions. Photo: Tracey Saxby

Help us to hold FortisBC accountable

FortisBC is making a mess near the Squamish estuary. The tunnel under the estuary keeps collapsing, and we suspect that the tunnel boring machine is now stuck.

We've been monitoring the situation closely, but FortisBC's workers refuse to talk to us. The first time I went by, the only thing the workers would say was "We're digging for treasure..."

This lack of accountability, honesty, and transparency with the general public is appalling.

Chip in to support monitoring?

As Woodfibre LNG and FortisBC violate the conditions of their environmental assessments again and again and again, it's clear that we need to step up our monitoring efforts to hold them accountable.

We need to hire experts and pay for legal fees so we can monitor the projects and file complaints with regulators.

Our end-of-year fundraising goal is $200,000. Can you chip in?

YES! I'LL CHIP IN!

Hundreds of donors have chipped in to support our legal actions over the last year. Every donation will be matched by a wonderful local donor.

Please chip in now so we can continue the fight until we stop Woodfibre LNG and FortisBC for good.

With fierce determination,
