Heart of Howe Sound: the Canoe Pullers

December 19, 2022
Crystal Lewis

I grew up canoe pulling on the sacred waters of Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound, which taught me a lot of cultural values and lessons.

Not only did Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound connect me to my community, ancestors, and home—it gifted me with a canoe family, healing me on my leadership journey, and shaping me into who I am today.

For that I will always grateful, and an advocate for the land and water.

I first started volunteering with My Sea to Sky in 2015, and I am honoured to have been an advocate for their campaign to #ProtectHoweSound since 2017.

My Sea to Sky needs your support to continue their critical campaigns to defend, protect, and restore Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound's precious watershed.

This #GivingDecember, a wonderful local family will match your donation to double your impact. So far the amazing My Sea to Sky community has raised over $20,200—our end-of-year goal is $35,000. Can you chip in?

Yes! Please double my one-time gift!

My Sea to Sky is incredibly proud and grateful to say that we rely on the My Sea to Sky community for small donations that provide the majority of our funding. Since our launch in 2014, we have been funded through personal savings, family and friends; and powered by the passion of our volunteers. Your generous contribution will help us to run our critical campaigns to defend, protect, and restore Howe Sound. Can you chip in?
