Burnco is back... for two public comment periods

Burnco Rock Products wants to build a large scale open pit gravel mine in the McNab Creek watershed in Howe Sound, despite widespread opposition. This highly destructive project threatens McNab Creek, which is one of only three salmon-bearing estuaries in Howe Sound.
A 30-day public comment period for the Burnco gravel mine has started for the Provincial Environmental Assessment (EA). This is the last step in the Provincial EA process, to review the draft report that will then be delivered to Minister Heyman and Minister Mungall. With the new Provincial government we have a real opportunity to stop this project for good.
We are setting up a Citizens Working Group to review the draft reports. If you would like to help please email: volunteer@myseatosky.org

After the Provincial public comment period, there is a second public comment period for the Federal Environmental Assessment, starting in December, yay! Back to back public comment periods. What more can you want for Christmas?
Once our volunteers have identified the key issues we'll let you know how to get involved. Stay tuned!
Why is McNab Creek so important?
We aim to make it as simple as possible for people to take action at critical moments. This is one of those moments.
