We're going to court!

For eleven years we've said that the environmental assessment process is broken. Now we're going to court on May 28, 29, and 30 to prove it!

Woodfibre LNG was the second project to be assessed using a substituted environmental assessment process, where the Federal Government delegated the review to the Province of British Columbia. It didn't work.

The newly elected Federal government is talking about creating a "one-stop-shop" to fast-track project approvals. But destructive resource extraction projects like Woodfibre LNG need more oversight, not less.

We need to fix the broken process.

When the Federal government approved Woodfibre LNG's floating workcamp in November 2023, both My Sea to Sky and Justice for Girls immediately filed for a judicial review.

We are asking the court to find that the Federal government followed an unfair process, and failed to discharge their duty to protect human rights and the environment.

A second "floatel"?

Woodfibre LNG is already operating despite being denied the local permit from the District of Squamish for the first floating workcamp.

Now Woodfibre LNG wants to dock a second floating workcamp (aka "floatel") for up to 900 more workers! This makes our legal challenges even more timely.
