Bio
My name is Adam Shepherd and I am running for a position on Sechelt Council in the October 2022 Municipal election.
The majority of my career was spent in the development and management of commercial shopping centres from Ontario to British Columbia in addition to seven years in Kuwait and Qatar in the Middle East. I have
often worked in small teams tasked with meeting project targets and financial goals which will prove beneficial if I were to be elected to Council.
Although my wife and I moved to Sechelt in 2016, we had already been visiting friends here for over 15 years. Once resettled here, we found Sechelt to be a very welcoming community with a vigorous spirit of civic involvement and volunteer activity.
Upon moving to Sechelt, I joined the Board of the East Porpoise Bay Community Association and got involved in Sechelt’s Integrated Sustainability Plan in 2018 / 2019 that brought together diverse members
of the community to develop a vision for Sechelt over the next 10 years.
More recently, as president of the East Porpoise Bay Community Association I have been involved in the Associations input into the Short Term Rental bylaw and new Zoning Bylaw 580.
Beyond my role with our Community Association, I take part in our monthly litter clean up along Sechelt Inlet Road, lug books for The Friends of the Library book sales and started trail building this Spring at Hidden
Groves.
Community Associations are the voices of our neighbourhoods in Sechelt.
I ask for your vote in October in order to put an Association member onto Council.
